What comes to mind when you think of Hokkaido souvenirs?
Here, I'll introduce my personal recommendations for Hokkaido souvenirs.
(Shiroi Koibito, Jaga Pokkuru, and Rokkatei Marusei Butter Sandwich are too famous, so they won't be introduced here.)

1. Yubari Melon Pocky

A snack that anyone working at a souvenir shop in Sapporo must have seen.
Yubari melon-flavored Pocky, with 13 individually wrapped packages. (It used to be 14 packages, they secretly raised the price 😂)
Upon opening an individual package, the aroma of melon fills the air. When you bite into it, the aroma and flavor of melon are incredibly rich. It is said to use as much as 26% Yubari melon juice 🍈.
Foreign tourists also snatch them up, making them an extremely popular product.
Hokkaido locals buy them less often due to the slightly higher price, but they are an excellent choice as a Hokkaido souvenir.
By the way, this product belongs to the "Local Pocky" series; besides the Hokkaido Yubari melon flavor, other regions also have their own flavors.

2. CHELSEA

Individually wrapped candies that have continued since 1971.
Discontinued nationwide in March 2024, it was re-released in September of the same year as a Hokkaido-exclusive product, with an improved softer caramel texture.
A new "Melon Scotch" flavor was also launched on June 2nd of this year.
The sweet aroma spreads in your mouth upon tasting, making you want to keep one in your mouth while working or studying.

3. Oh! Yakitokibi (Oh! Baked Corn)

Another snack that anyone working at a souvenir shop in Sapporo must have seen.
Available in single individual packages, medium boxes, and large boxes. (The image shows a medium box.)
Moderately salty and easy to eat, yet irresistibly addictive.
This product also gives the impression of being eagerly bought by foreign tourists.
The box contains multiple individual packages, perfect for sharing with friends or family. Most importantly, it pairs very well with alcohol.

In summary: Hokkaido snacks have a very premium feel, and there are many limited-edition products. Please be sure to try them!!
